Wesley Heights Tudor
Like many homes in Washington, this house is situated on a steep hillside, with the front door elevated 20 feet above the sidewalk. We prioritized a comfortable approach by minimizing the number of steps in each run and providing landing areas for rest. Retaining walls and boulders support the grade in the front garden, where visitors find themselves in an elliptical lawn lined with Hellebore and Hydrangea upon reaching the entry elevation. Numerous trees were preserved on site including a magnificent ash tree alongside the property.
The rear garden includes a pool aligned with the central mass of the house addition and the pool house. The pool feature wall incorporates copper patina scuppers which creates a relaxing visual and sound experience to diminish the surrounding sounds. Connecting the pool terrace to a side grilling is a stepping stone path surrounded by a lush garden filled with astilbe, hosta, and standard hydrangea. Stormwater is captured through permeable paving and directed to infiltration trench adjacent to the driveway.
